Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Joseph Christian Leyendecker achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2017. In the American Art auction, the work Newspapers Over Books sold for USD 212,500.00 (€ 178,601.45) - well above the upper estimate of USD 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Christian Leyendecker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Carousel Ride, which sold at auction in December 2020 for USD 516,100.00 (€ 421,995.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joseph Christian Leyendecker erzielte im November 2017 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Newspapers Over Books für USD 212.500,00 (€ 178.601,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 100.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Joseph Christian Leyendecker mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Carousel Ride beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für USD 516.100,00 (€ 421.995,09) versteigert wurde.
