Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work La Cantina by José Clemente Orozco was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 596,000.00 (€ 530,674.03). Other works by José Clemente Orozco have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2010 by the work The City at USD 1,142,500.00 (€ 923,680.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit La Cantina von José Clemente Orozco im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 596.000,00 (€ 530.674,03) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von José Clemente Orozco wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Mai 2010 die Arbeit The City mit USD 1.142.500,00 (€ 923.680,17).
