This artwork by Jonathan Richardson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2009. In the The Roger Warner Collection - Part I auction, the work Portrait of Alexander Pope (1668-1744), head and shoulders sold for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,095.58) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jonathan Richardson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group Portrait of The Artist And His Son, Jonathan, With John Milton, Three-Quarter-Length, On A Balcony in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 26,400.00 (€ 39,126.47).
