Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jonathan Chapline achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in March 2021. In the New Now auction, the work Virtual Characters, Domestic Landscape sold for USD 126,000.00 (€ 107,297.96) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jonathan Chapline - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Image Gallery (Collecting and Transcribing), which sold at auction in May last year for HKD 1,890,000.00 (€ 224,383.56).

Für andere Arbeiten von Jonathan Chapline mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Image Gallery (Collecting and Transcribing) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für HKD 1.890.000,00 (€ 224.383,56) versteigert wurde.
