Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Male Aggression by Jonathan Borofsky was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 307.20 (€ 268.48). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jonathan Borofsky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Man with Briefcase A; B; C; at No. 3274714; and at No. 5876246 (G. 1482-4; 1461) in November 2006 with an auction result of USD 60,000.00 (€ 45,245.46).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Male Aggression von Jonathan Borofsky im Januar 2024 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 307,20 (€ 268,48) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jonathan Borofsky erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Man with Briefcase A; B; C; at No. 3274714; and at No. 5876246 (G. 1482-4; 1461) im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 60.000,00 (€ 45.245,46).
