Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of a terrier image size in circular mount 14.5cm (5 3/4in), full sheet 23 x 19cm (9 x 7 1/2in). by John Ruskin was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 3,825.00 (€ 4,534.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Ruskin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bellinzona, Switzerland, looking north towards the St. Gotthard pass in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 274,050.00 (€ 393,402.83).
