This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Drawings at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by John Ruskin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bellinzona, Switzerland, looking north towards the St. Gotthard pass in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 274,050.00 (€ 393,402.83).
