Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work La Cascade de la Folie, Chamonix by John Ruskin was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 69,600.00 (€ 79,183.44), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Ruskin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bellinzona, Switzerland, looking north towards the St. Gotthard pass in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 274,050.00 (€ 393,402.83).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit La Cascade de la Folie, Chamonix von John Ruskin wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion 19th Century and British Impressionist Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 69.600,00 (€ 79.183,44) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Ruskin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bellinzona, Switzerland, looking north towards the St. Gotthard pass im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 274.050,00 (€ 393.402,83).
