Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of Sir Henry Oxenden, 3rd Bt. (1643-1709), Governor of Bombay and President of the East India Company by John Riley. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,560.00 (€ 9,015.03) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Riley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Frances Wiat, three-quarter-length, seated, in an ochre dress and blue wrap, holding an orange in her left hand, her right arm resting on a plinth, before a draped curtain in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 25,850.00 (€ 40,975.43).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Sir Henry Oxenden, 3rd Bt. (1643-1709), Governor of Bombay and President of the East India Company von John Riley zur Versteigerung kam.
