Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 24,031.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Other works by John Riley have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2000 the work Portrait of Frances Wiat, three-quarter-length, seated, in an ochre dress and blue wrap, holding an orange in her left hand, her right arm resting on a plinth, before a draped curtain was auctioned for GBP 25,850.00 (€ 40,975.43).
