In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Portrait of the Right Honourable Charles James Fox, three-quarter-length, standing beside a table changed hands for USD 3,750.00 (€ 2,981.40) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Opie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Sir James Earle, Half-Length, Seated, In A Brown Coat And Striped Waistcoat; And Portrait Of Mary, Lady Earle, Half-Length, Seated At A Piano, In A White Dress And A Grey Coat in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 10,340.00 (€ 17,176.80).
