Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Confession by John Opie was sold in the Old Masters auction at Sothebys in London in October 2014. The price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,192.14) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Opie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Sir James Earle, Half-Length, Seated, In A Brown Coat And Striped Waistcoat; And Portrait Of Mary, Lady Earle, Half-Length, Seated At A Piano, In A White Dress And A Grey Coat in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 10,340.00 (€ 17,176.80).
