In May 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Joseph Sold By His Brothers To The Ishmaelites by John Opie. Other works by John Opie have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 10,340.00 (€ 17,176.80) in June 2001 for the work Portrait Of Sir James Earle, Half-Length, Seated, In A Brown Coat And Striped Waistcoat; And Portrait Of Mary, Lady Earle, Half-Length, Seated At A Piano, In A White Dress And A Grey Coat.
