In March 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Untitled (Red Plank) by John McCracken. The result of USD 400,000.00 (€ 362,680.21) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John McCracken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in November 2015 for USD 965,000.00 (€ 913,652.72).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Red Plank) von John McCracken zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 400.000,00 (€ 362.680,21) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John McCracken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im November 2015 für USD 965.000,00 (€ 913.652,72) versteigert wurde.
