Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Red Plank by John McCracken was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. The auction ended at the price of USD 400,000.00 (€ 356,157.07), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John McCracken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in November 2015 for USD 965,000.00 (€ 913,652.72).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Red Plank von John McCracken kam im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 400.000,00 (€ 356.157,07) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 300.000,00 – 400.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John McCracken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im November 2015 für USD 965.000,00 (€ 913.652,72) versteigert wurde.
