Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ios by John McCracken was sold in the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. The price achieved of USD 93,750.00 (€ 83,474.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John McCracken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 913,652.72).

Die Arbeit Ios von John McCracken wurde im Juni 2020 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 93.750,00 (€ 83.474,31) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John McCracken erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 965.000,00 (€ 913.652,72).
