Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2015 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work Two Views Of The Action Between H.M.S. Shannon And The U.S.S. Chesapeake, 1 June 1813; And H.M.S. Shannon Arriving At Halifax, Nova Scotia With Her Celebrated Prize, 6 June 1813 by John Lynn. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,882.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Lynn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lord Belfast's yacht Emily off the Mediterranean coast with a xebec off her port bow, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 28,200.00 (€ 45,250.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Views Of The Action Between H.M.S. Shannon And The U.S.S. Chesapeake, 1 June 1813; And H.M.S. Shannon Arriving At Halifax, Nova Scotia With Her Celebrated Prize, 6 June 1813 von John Lynn zur Versteigerung kam.
