Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online, which included the work Launching day at the East India Dock, Blackwall on the Thames by John Lynn. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,152.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Lynn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lord Belfast's yacht Emily off the Mediterranean coast with a xebec off her port bow, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 28,200.00 (€ 45,250.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Launching day at the East India Dock, Blackwall on the Thames von John Lynn zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.152,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John Lynn mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Lord Belfast's yacht Emily off the Mediterranean coast with a xebec off her port bow beobachtet, die im Mai 2000 für GBP 28.200,00 (€ 45.250,60) versteigert wurde.
