Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work At This Point In Time by John Geoffrey Caruthers Little was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,453.58). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Geoffrey Caruthers Little achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tropic of Cancer in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 74,978.58).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit At This Point In Time von John Geoffrey Caruthers Little im Juni 2012 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.453,58) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Geoffrey Caruthers Little erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tropic of Cancer im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 74.978,58).
