This artwork by John Latham achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in March 2017. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work World of Ice sold for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 65,919.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Latham; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Triptych 1954 sold at auction in July 2008 with the realized price of GBP 79,250.00 (€ 100,688.02).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Latham erzielte im März 2017 bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit World of Ice für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 65.919,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von John Latham; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Triptych 1954 im Juli 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 79.250,00 (€ 100.688,02).
