Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Selu'S Daughter (Another Standing Dance) by John La Farge was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,779.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John La Farge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 2,096,000.00 (€ 2,410,858.06).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Selu'S Daughter (Another Standing Dance) von John La Farge im September 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.779,00) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John La Farge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.096.000,00 (€ 2.410.858,06).
