Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Magnolia by John La Farge was sold in the American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2018. The price achieved of USD 262,500.00 (€ 224,935.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John La Farge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 2,096,000.00 (€ 2,410,858.06).

Die Arbeit Magnolia von John La Farge wurde im Mai 2018 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 262.500,00 (€ 224.935,73) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John La Farge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.096.000,00 (€ 2.410.858,06).
