In November 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Blue Iris, Study by John La Farge. The result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 35,326.33) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John La Farge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 2,096,000.00 (€ 2,410,858.06).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Blue Iris, Study von John La Farge zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 35.326,33) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John La Farge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.096.000,00 (€ 2.410.858,06).
