Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John La Farge could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Blue Iris, Study changed hands for USD 17,500.00 (€ 16,047.68) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John La Farge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 2,096,000.00 (€ 2,410,858.06).
