This artwork by John Houston achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Edinburgh in May 2021. In the Scottish Art auction, the work Botanical Garden sold for GBP 2,040.00 (€ 2,373.59) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Admittedly, works by John Houston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) in October 2000 with an auction result of GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,640.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Houston erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Bonhams in Edinburgh einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Scottish Art wurde die Arbeit Botanical Garden für GBP 2.040,00 (€ 2.373,59) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Houston auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.640,00 (€ 9.640,37).
