Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Summer Sea, Gullane by John Houston was sold in the Scottish Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2017. It changed hands for a price of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,385.21) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Other works by John Houston have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2000 the work Sunset over the Forth (from North Berwick Golf Club showing Fife and the Lomonds) was auctioned for GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,640.37).
