Auction result misses estimated price range
In April last year a collector was able to acquire the work High School Student Makes $2264 Annually by Raising Eating Chickens, Petaluma, CA by John Gutmann for USD 956.25 (€ 907.52). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Bonhams in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by John Gutmann have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work First Drive-in Theatre, Los Angeles, 1935 in September 2006 with an auction result of USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,620.95).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit High School Student Makes $2264 Annually by Raising Eating Chickens, Petaluma, CA von John Gutmann für USD 956,25 (€ 907,52) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Bonhams in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Gutmann auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit First Drive-in Theatre, Los Angeles, 1935 im September 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.400,00 (€ 6.620,95).
