Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Gutmann could be acquired at Christies in New York in April 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Portrait of a Collector: The John M. Bransten Collection of Photographs auction, the work Oakies on Their Way West, Wyoming, 1936 changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,212.48) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Gutmann - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work First Drive-in Theatre, Los Angeles, 1935, which sold at auction in September 2006 for USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,620.95).
