Green paper, 1964, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 12/50, published by Kelpra Studio, London Largest Sheet: 34 5 ⁄ 8 x 23 in. (880 x 584 mm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two prints by the artist by Joe Tilson was auctioned at Christies in New York in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 504.00 (€ 456.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joe Tilson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Secret in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 197,000.00 (€ 236,464.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two prints by the artist von Joe Tilson im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.200,00 – 1.600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 504,00 (€ 456,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joe Tilson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Secret im Juni 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 197.000,00 (€ 236.464,29).
