In November 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work The Boy in Purple by Joan Eardley. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 37,800.00 (€ 44,380.76), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Joan Eardley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Beggars In Venice in August 2008 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 209,875.08).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im November 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Boy in Purple von Joan Eardley zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 37.800,00 (€ 44.380,76) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joan Eardley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Beggars In Venice im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 169.250,00 (€ 209.875,08).
