Auction result well in line with expectations
In October this year Bonhams in Paris held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work Tenement by Joan Eardley. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 40,960.00 (€ 47,033.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Joan Eardley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Beggars In Venice in August 2008 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 209,875.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Paris die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Tenement von Joan Eardley zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 40.960,00 (€ 47.033,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joan Eardley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Beggars In Venice im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 169.250,00 (€ 209.875,08).
