Despite a disappointment, a good price for Joan Eardley
This work of art by Joan Eardley could be acquired at Sothebys in London in August 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Scottish & Sporting Pictures auction, the work Beggars In Venice changed hands for GBP 169,250.00 (€ 209,875.08) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Despite this disappointing result, Beggars In Venice is the most expensive artwork by Joan Eardley that we have observed at auction so far.
