This artwork by Joan Eardley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July last year. In the Five Private Collections auction, the work The Oil Lamp sold for GBP 22,680.00 (€ 27,083.95) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joan Eardley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Beggars In Venice in August 2008 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 209,875.08).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joan Eardley erzielte im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Five Private Collections wurde die Arbeit The Oil Lamp für GBP 22.680,00 (€ 27.083,95) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 10.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joan Eardley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Beggars In Venice im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 169.250,00 (€ 209.875,08).
