Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An Autumn Woodland Scene by Jervis McEntee was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 28,000.00 (€ 19,063.18). Admittedly, works by Jervis McEntee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gathering Firewood in December 2002 with an auction result of USD 130,500.00 (€ 124,463.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit An Autumn Woodland Scene von Jervis McEntee im November 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 28.000,00 (€ 19.063,18) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jervis McEntee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Gathering Firewood im Dezember 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 130.500,00 (€ 124.463,52).
