In December 2019 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Drawings: Online, which included the work The Death of Socrates by Jean-Baptiste Deshays. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,864.12), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jean-Baptiste Deshays have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Young Woman, Said To Be Madame Deshays, Turning Towards The Viewer And Holding A Book in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 35,828.35).

Im Dezember 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Drawings: Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Death of Socrates von Jean-Baptiste Deshays zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.864,12) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Baptiste Deshays auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Young Woman, Said To Be Madame Deshays, Turning Towards The Viewer And Holding A Book im Februar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 35.828,35).
