In February 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work Mercure Et Argus by Jean-Baptiste Deshays for EUR 13,000.00. This price was achieved in the auction From Alphonse to Hélène Kann The Legacy of Artistic Passion at Artcurial and was even below the estimate range of EUR 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste Deshays - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Young Woman, Said To Be Madame Deshays, Turning Towards The Viewer And Holding A Book, which sold at auction in February 2018 for USD 43,750.00 (€ 35,828.35).
