Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2018 Christies in Paris held the auction Dessins Anciens et du XIXe Siècle, which included the work Jeune femme debout, vue de profil vers la droite by Jean-Antoine Watteau. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 18,000.00 – 22,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 18,750.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,361,250.00 (€ 15,705,107.29).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2018 führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Dessins Anciens et du XIXe Siècle durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jeune femme debout, vue de profil vers la droite von Jean-Antoine Watteau zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 18.000,00 – 22.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 18.750,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Antoine Watteau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.361.250,00 (€ 15.705.107,29).
