Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October last year Christies in Paris held the auction Collections, which included the work Gentilhomme Debout Tenant Avec Sa Canne by Jean-Antoine Watteau. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 15,120.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,361,250.00 (€ 15,705,107.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Collections durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gentilhomme Debout Tenant Avec Sa Canne von Jean-Antoine Watteau zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 15.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 15.120,00 einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Antoine Watteau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.361.250,00 (€ 15.705.107,29).
