In February 2018 Christies in London held the auction Impressionist and Modern Works on Paper, which included the work The Ditch by Jan Toorop. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,590.35), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Toorop achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portret van mevrouw M.J. de Lange - Portrait of Mrs M.J. de Lange in November 2005 with an auction result of EUR 818,400.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im Februar 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion Impressionist and Modern Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Ditch von Jan Toorop zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.590,35) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Toorop erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portret van mevrouw M.J. de Lange - Portrait of Mrs M.J. de Lange im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 818.400,00.
