In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Prints, which included the work De Zaaier ('The Sower') by Jan Toorop. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,032.00 (€ 3,713.39), 61% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Toorop achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portret van mevrouw M.J. de Lange - Portrait of Mrs M.J. de Lange in November 2005 with an auction result of EUR 818,400.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit De Zaaier ('The Sower') von Jan Toorop zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.032,00 (€ 3.713,39) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Toorop erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portret van mevrouw M.J. de Lange - Portrait of Mrs M.J. de Lange im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 818.400,00.
