Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Slovakian Village: Turi-Pole by Jan Matulka for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,304.45). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Matulka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).
