This artwork by Jan Matulka achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April this year. In the Modern American Masterworks from the Ted Shen Collection auction, the work New York View sold for USD 26,460.00 (€ 23,967.39) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Matulka have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan Matulka erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern American Masterworks from the Ted Shen Collection wurde die Arbeit New York View für USD 26.460,00 (€ 23.967,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Matulka auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 201.600,00 (€ 164.840,56).
