This artwork by Jan Matulka achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Sydney in August this year. In the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction, the work Arrangement - New York sold for USD 40,320.00 (€ 37,199.00) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Matulka have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan Matulka erzielte im August diesen Jahres bei Christies in Sydney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century wurde die Arbeit Arrangement - New York für USD 40.320,00 (€ 37.199,00) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Matulka auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 201.600,00 (€ 164.840,56).
