The work Slovakian Village, Turi-Pole 23 7/8 x 29 5/8 in. (60.6 x 75.3 cm.) by Jan Matulka was sold in the American Art auction at Bonhams in New York in May last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,287.50 (€ 7,722.95), 66% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Matulka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).
