Auction result well in line with expectations
In August this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Surrealist Scene by Jan Matulka. The price achieved of USD 4,160.00 (€ 3,837.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Matulka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).
