Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An elegant couple on horseback by James Seymour was sold in the Sporting & Wildlife Art auction at Christies in London in November 2013. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,512.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Seymour achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 322,494.52).
