Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Match, Two Racehorses on the Downs by James Seymour was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April last year. The price achieved of GBP 22,680.00 (€ 27,045.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Seymour achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 322,494.52).
