Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Two Tunnels From The Right (Vertical) by James Casebere was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 6,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 20,000.00 (€ 16,986.58). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Casebere - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Arcade, which sold at auction in September 2013 for USD 75,000.00 (€ 55,411.90).
