Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jacques-Louis David could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work Study Of The Head Of A Sleeping Woman changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,875.11) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques-Louis David achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ramel De Nogaret in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,209,000.00 (€ 4,630,652.62).
