Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Christ carrying the Cross (Walch 23; Griffiths & Hartley 11 a) by Jacques Bellange was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,688.61). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques Bellange achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Martyrdom Of Saint Andrew in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 34,686.15).
